Position Summary
Provide direct care, supervision, guidance, and protection to male youth ages 10–17 in a licensed General Residential Operation (GRO). Ensure a safe, structured, trauma-informed environment consistent with the T3C Framework (Trauma-Informed Treatment, Compliance, and Culture) and all applicable Texas Administrative Code Chapter 748 standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and monitor residents during all daily activities including meals, recreation, education, personal hygiene, and therapeutic programming
- Maintain required child-to-caregiver ratios at all times per TAC Chapter 748 and DFPS service level requirements
- Implement behavior management plans using positive, trauma-informed approaches; no corporal punishment
- Administer medications per established protocols (after completing medication administration training)
- Document daily observations, incidents, and progress notes accurately and timely
- Transport residents to appointments, activities, and community outings as needed
- Participate in equine-assisted therapy, agricultural training, martial arts, and life skills programming
- Respond to crisis situations using approved de-escalation and emergency behavior intervention techniques
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation immediately per mandatory reporting requirements (Texas Family Code Chapter 261)
- Maintain professional boundaries with residents at all times
- Attend all required staff meetings, training sessions, and treatment team meetings
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- High school diploma or GED required
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Must meet all requirements under TAC §748.551
- Must pass criminal background check, FBI fingerprint check, and DFPS Central Registry check
- Valid Texas driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, lifting, and physical intervention when required
Required Training (provided by KYC)
- Pre-service orientation within 48 hours of hire
- CPR and First Aid certification within 30 days
- SAMA/CPI crisis intervention certification within 30 days
- Medication administration training before administering medications
- 50 hours of annual training
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with youth in residential care, foster care, or juvenile justice settings
- Experience with youth who have experienced trauma, ASD, intellectual disabilities, or emotional disorders
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

- Conduct regular room checks and bed checks at required intervals
- Monitor facility security including doors, windows, and surveillance systems
- Respond to nighttime behavioral or medical emergencies
- Supervise and monitor residents during all daily activities including meals, recreation, education, personal hygiene, and therapeutic programming
